Luke Comins, Manager

Luke has a BA in Geography and an MSc in Landscape Ecology, Design and Management.  He came to the Scottish Borders in 1996 where he started work in the fisheries field.  From here he became involved in the development of the £9 million Tweed Rivers Heritage Project and during this time oversaw the consolidation of Tweed Forum from an informal liaison group to a fully staffed company.

Nicola Bissett, Catchment Management Planning Officer

Nicola has a B.Sc. in Aquatic Bioscience from the University of Glasgow and, with a varied background, is well placed to contribute to Tweed Forum’s broad remit.  Having worked for the Scottish Centre for Ecology and the Natural Environment and the Lochaber Fisheries Trust, Nicola has wide experience of project management and development, fundraising and aquatic ecology.

Alistair Laverty, Till Project Officer

Alastair studied Geography at Queen's University Belfast, and on graduating worked for the Environmental Heritage Service. Over the next 4 years Alastair worked on landscape and conservation issues relating to the designation and management of AONB's within Northern Ireland. A move to Northumberland in 1992 brought the opportunity to combine his interest in rivers and wildlife, by working as a Conservation Officer for the Environment Agency's predecessor, the National Rivers Authority. Over the next 12 years, Alastair has developed a special interest in fluvial geomorpohology and wetland restoration/creation, securing the role as Biodiversity Technical Specialist in 2004. In 2006 he welcomed a secondment opportunity to return to a favoured part of Northumberland, to work with farmers to restore wetland habitats within the Till Catchment.

Hugh Chalmers, Tweed Collaborative Action Co-ordinator

Hugh has a B.Sc. in Agriculture and a M.Sc. in Natural Resource Management from Edinburgh University.  He worked first as a lecturer in agricultural colleges in Derbyshire and Surrey, and then moved to the Borders in 1992 to work with the Scottish Wildlife Trust. He then worked as an advisor with the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group and with Borders Forest Trust as Site Manager. With the Tweed Forum, he is concerned with assisting landowners to restore wetlands, manage floodplains and control diffuse pollution.

Janet Landells, Finance/Office Manager

Jan has a broad range of administration and finance management experience having worked previously in the public and private sectors, for both large organisations and small businesses. Jan also provides financial administration support for the Southern Uplands Partnership one day per week.
