Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs





The Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs is responsible for implementing Government Policy for agriculture, environment and fisheries within England. It aims to achieve economic prosperity and thriving rural communities through sustainable farming and fishing and the sustainable management of food and water.

As well as promoting rural development, it is responsible for administering a number of agri-environment schemes such as the Countryside Stewardship scheme and the Farm Woodland Premium scheme.
