Glentress, Cardrona and Craik are the three forests in the Tweed
catchment area. Glentress, the oldest woodland in Southern Scotland,
is situated near Peebles. Cardrona can be found to the south of
the Tweed near Peebles and Craik, near Hawick. These mixed conifer
woodlands offer opportunities for a wide range of recreational activities,
including walking, mountain biking and pony trekking. These are
good areas for spotting roe deer and red squirrels.
